Although I am a model photographer, one of the toughest challenges (and still is) is to go up to a total stranger and ask them for a photo. It’s the one single challenge that has taken me a lifetime to achieve. It could be an underlying problem with confidence in talking to strangers, but it was a fear I wanted to conquer.

Great people shots. Does using an instant camera make subjects feel more at ease, or at least more curious and involved with the process?
I love landscapes and architecture as much as the next person, but the human face is such a rich subject!
I especially love the old guy under the No Photos sign.

Many thanks Joe! To be honest, I started this blog post but never finished it, hence it doesn’t feel complete. Will expand on it soon.
You are completely right, with a Polaroid camera, especially a vintage one like the SLR680 or SX-70, you do indeed have an ice breaker when it comes to asking people for portraits.
